Project life// week 26/2015

Hi all!

Tara here today. I’ve got for you my week 26, which I have broken into 2 parts. My album for 2015 just can’t take any more pages, so at the end of June I had to go into a new one. Because of that I decided to do week 26 in part 1 which encompasses June 28-30 and in part 2 July 1-5. Now, that is actually 8 days, not 7…. and that is because I am going to have my weeks start on a Monday instead of a Sunday. I am hoping this is easier to document our weekends and not feel like they are split.

So, Part 1 is below and can be found on youtube in the form of a process video:

This “oh lucky us” card (from The Teal Lime Press) is the one that gave me the most trouble this week, but also my favorite card! I love the simplicity of the thickers and the alpha!

and Part 2 can be found on YouTube in the form of a share video and consists of a title card separate from the pocket pages (trying something different!), a 6×12 insert (for July 1), a 3×12 insert (for June 2,3 and 5) and a 12×12 page for (July 4). I feel like it’s a bit of a jumble, but it makes sense to me why I did it! I think week 27 will look more like my traditional layout.

I love how this card turned out! July wood veneer is from Michaels and inked with Stazon black ink pad. Alphas for week 26 (I love the color!!) are from simple stories. I thought this was a fitting card as it’s the “beginning” of my 2nd album for 2015!

Insert for Canada Day! Again kept it quite simple and used very little for embellishments.

One of my favorite things to document is a new recipe we tried. This week we actually tried 2 so I put them both in a little 3×12 insert (I cut down a design J). I also printed off the recipe and stuck it behind the photo. I needed something for the middle pocket so I used 2 little 2×2 pictures and fused them in the middle of a shaker card.
Collages were made using picstitch app and cards from The Teal Lime Press. I kept it pretty simple this week and just used labels, a bit of journaling and stamps.

This weekend was going to be filled with Project life for week 27- but that was when I thought my studio calico kit would be here. It hasn’t arrived yet 😢 so I’m not sure what this weekend will bring for crafting. I’ve started printing photos and cards from The Teal Lime Press, so maybe I will change my plans with what I thought I was going to do for week 27 and try something different!

What are you working on this weekend?

Project life// week 24/2015

This week’s project life spread was my first using The Teal Lime Press’ digital cards. I was really excited to use them as I love the colors and the designs.

Above is the full 2 page layout. I used Design Q on the left side and Design A on the right side. I had a question as to why I mainly use Design A, and so wanted to answer it here. When I started PL in 2014 I went a “little” overboard with buying… and one of those purchases was a variety pack of page protectors. The one with 10 of 6 different layouts. And I still have 1/2 of that variety pack left. I found that there were quite a few I just didn’t use very often. And when I print pictures I find I use either the 4×6 landscape or do 2 on a 4×6, so the design A works best for me for that. I am still trying to use up the ones that I have left, but I really have to plan when I use a non- design A layout. And this year my goal was to streamline as best I could for consistency and using mainly Design A was how I chose to do that.  BUT- that being said- I really like how the Design Q looks and am really liking the look of the 4×4 cards. SO I may be using this one more in the future.

“hello” is from Color Cast Designs in the Caribbean. If I haven’t mentioned it before… I LOVE Color Cast Designs! The label is one that I printed off a while ago (found on my pinterest board under printables) and the washi is from Close to my Heart. I love, love, love the simplicity of this card. And the stripes… I’m addicted to stripes!

IMG_4580

I used the paintpaperstudio app to create the “nothing can beat this #teatime” writing on the card. Its  free app with paid in app purchases. This is from the set by Kellie Winnell of Give A Girl A Blog and Kellie Stamps.

My most favorite card of this page is this 4×4. I love the card (TLP) and it took me a while to find the perfect placement for it in my layout this week. But I am so happy with it and how it turned out! The family is a wood veneer I colored black with my stazon ink pad and the enamel dots are from Close to my Heart. The document label is a sticker from my May Gossamer Blue PL kit.

IMG_4576

On my June Studio Calico order I added another Cirque PL kit. I really liked the embellishments in this kit, and it was $10 so I thought, why not? I wanted to use this wood veneer, and played with a few ways of using it. In the end I colored it with 3 different ink pads from Stampin’ Up! (pear pizazz, pool party and pistachio parade) and then found some random stamps from my stash and stamped them with Stazon. Again, the card is from TLP in the Lemon Yellow Sun kit.

My title card is from TLP and I used the black alpha stickers from Studio Calico’s Carolina Moon PL kit, white alpha stickers from Studio Calico’s Galileo PL kit for the numbers and then I outlined them. The “sun”, “fun” and hearts are from Paper Camellia.

IMG_4575

This card is 2 3×4’s attached. (Both from the Lemon Yellow Sun TLP kit). I love the right circle card, and also had trouble finding the best spot for it, but I knew I wanted to use one of my Color Cast Designs wood veneer with it. I finally settled on attaching it to the striped card as both the 2 do actually go together. The enamel dots are again from Close to my Heart.

And, if you want to see how this weeks spread came together, the process video is below. I hope that you will subscribe to my You Tube channel as well!

Happy Scrapping!

Project life// week 23/2015

Hi everyone!

I have week 23 (last week) ready to go, and I have a process video for you! And this is a complete start to finish video this week. I finally figured out how to use my phones recorder to properly take videos… the WHOLE time! What a thing to learn 🙂 Just to note though- I have a hard time talking in my videos- so this one is just the sped up process to music. (Feel free to turn the sound off!) The reason why? I tend to watch videos while I’m feeding my littlest, so I don’t have the sound on at night; I just watch. Next week I will do a talking one as I know some like that.

Last week was really busy for my family and me. I feel like I have forgotten a bunch of stuff, even though I added a 6×12 page front and back in the layout. So I did Sunday to Thursday on one and then when you flip it over its Friday and Saturday. I went to visit my friend Kristie (you know her as Sweet Girl Designs) and so we had a pretty busy day.

IMG_4543

Im not sure what is with me lately. I don’t really like yellow very much, but it seems to have been my go to color this week and last week I used it as my POP of color. And when you watch the video (below) you see that yellow was the only color I had at the beginning, and I changed it to add in some seafoam/aqua. Who knows, maybe the color is growing on me?! Above is the Sunday to Thursday part of the layout. I was very happy with how my pictures turned out this week! And I just love that title card. Its from the Studio Calico Galileo PL kit. The other one from that kit is the top right, Boat Fun card. IMG_4547 The other 3 cards are from studio calico as well. The middle and right ones are from the Cirque kit (from Feb) and I’m not sure what the left one is from. The striped heart over lay is from one of the Stampin Up! PL kits from last year. Im not sure what the kit is called anymore. Of course I used my FAVORITE Baxter collection vellum hearts (swoon… still the best!) and then some labels I had cut out last week and the Crate Paper labels. The white “23” on the summer title card is from the SC PL kit and the black “wk” is from the SC Scrapbook kit for June. They are vinyl so they were really hard to place! The little adventure ephemera is also from the Galileo kits for June.IMG_4545

And then on the Boat Fun card I used more from the SC kits from June. The U R Perfect card is from the Cirque kit as well as the heart and the label is from a printable you can find on my pinterest page. The “be silly” flair is one that I found on Scrapbookandmore.com. If you haven’t visited this site and you love flair badges you need to check it out as they have a bunch of guest designers who design their own flair collection and they make them. And they are a really good price as you can just buy 1 if you want.

IMG_4549

I again used the seafoam/aqua and yellow colors. And lots of pictures for this one. I wanted to keep the pictures free of too much “stuff” so chose to do more stamping on them and used a few stickers. IMG_4551My absolute most favorite card this layout is the road trip one. All I had planned when I picked the 4×6 card from my Galileo paper pack was that I was going to use a geo tag veneer. That was all I was originally going to do. Then I thought I would maybe put Calgary… and then in needed some color… and then some more color… and then my car veneer. But I just love how it turned out. I’m also in love with the bottom 4×4. I have been wanting to use this bliss card since last week- its been making it into my beginning layouts and then it just hasn’t been right. Until now! I finally found the place for it that I’m happy. I also like to do a lot of journaling, as this is a documentation of our life, but didn’t want to take up the room for it. So I find the compromise is to make a little tag and stick the journaling behind another card. This layout I put it behind the yellow and white 4×4. And that last 4×3 is from the Amy Tangerine plus one mini kit. I colored the potty people with Stampin Up! inks (and as you can see the ink wasn’t completely dry when I adhered it…. yeah… I wasn’t real happy). So- lesson is to be patient!

I hope you enjoyed this layout and have a few minutes to watch the video! You can find more process videos on my YouTube Channel! Subscribe so you don’t miss any.

Happy scrapping!

Project life// week 22/2015

I subscribe to Studio Calico’s project life kit, and have since last May. I went into it not being sure if it would be the right fit for my crafting style, but after a year I think I can safely say that it’s only helped to improve my style. I love that it’s a bunch of items I wouldn’t normally buy myself, and that it’s always a challenge to look at everything and say “how am I going to use this with my style?”.

On Monday I received my June Galileo kit (video to come of the unboxing of it!) and was so excited that I started  getting my cards laid out immediately.

As you can see below the biggest card that called to me was this Green June 4×6– and it’s not even part of the 4×6 cards for the actual kit. It’s just the card that has information about the kit on the back. I really hope, though, that Studio Calico continues to keep their information card looking like this.

I wanted to keep this card really simple, and so used it as my weekly title card and used white and black. Very basic! But I find it pops so much because of how basic it is.

Using the green June card really challenged me to step outside the box with my color choices this week. I’m not usually a fan of yellow, but I just love the size of the alphas that came in the kit this month, and so used the white and yellow ones to give some more color interest for my cards. This Snow White one is one of my favorites! I like how I mixed the stamps and the stickers. The background 4×6 is from the Galileo paper pack and the 3×4 on top is from a gossamer blue kit (not sure which one). And then some fun ephemera (Galileo kit), washi (arrow One is Close to my Heart), yellow washi and arrow clip are both freckled fawn.

This card is the top of a flip up card (underneath are just photos) that I used my fuse to adhere it to the page protector. At first I stamped the “love” on the plastic page protector, but it started to wear off so I ended up stamping it on the picture. The alpha stickers are on the page protector though.

I LOVE this soft peach card that came in one of my first SC kits last year (I can’t remember which one) and I’ve been saving it for a while. The happy wood veneer is colored with a Stampin up! Ink and the heart with “this” is from the Galileo kit.

I have stamped the white with my whisper white from Stampin Up! I had been looking for a white staz-on at Michaels my last few trips, but they never had any so I decided to try this ink and it seems to work. I just had to let it dry a bit longer than normal because it’s a craft ink. last week I was busy looking for labels on Pinterest and found this set that I love! It took me a while to cut them all out, but I am very pleased with them so it was worth it. You can find the link for them here  I love gold! And so i was excited to see this card with gold foil on it! The sequins are from Close to my Heart and I was super excited to find them because they are already backed with glue dots! So putting them on is super easy.

This is another top of a layered pocket page that I adhered with my fuse. Again I just LOVE those alphas!   I picked up another Cirque PL Kit from studio calico for $10 at the end of May and these lovely sequins and stars came with it! Just a small shaker card as I wanted them to stay at the bottom of the card and not travel up. And again those lovely labels I cut out!

And here are the finished pages:

How is your project life going this week?

Happy crafting!

Project life// week 21/2015

Currently I am up to date on my weekly PL (project life). This isn’t always the case, but being on maternity leave is really helping me to get my crafting done. The way I find I stay up to date is by finding a routine that works for me and my life. Right now I like to set aside time on either Monday or Tuesday in the week to create. Some days I find I can sit down and get the prior week done in an hour or two (which was how it worked for week 21), and other days I find I pick at it over a few days. I was really hoping that I would have a video to share with you today on my process…. But it looks like someone forgot to turn the camera the right way! (Yes, there is only me to blame for that mistake!) so instead of a video, I have some extra pictures for you than I would normally have.

Left side:

 And a few detail shots:

Right side:

and some detail shots for this side

I’ll do my best to detail the items I used.

Most cards are from a variety of studio calico project life kits. The exceptions are: grey LIFE 4×6 (top left) and the “say what??” 3×4 (middle right) are from the Becky Higgins Jade collection, the 4×6 with the rain drops (bottom right) is from the Stampin Up! Sale-a-Bration package.

I used my cuttlebug with my stampin up dies for “hello” and “happy” with a gold and vellum 12×12 that I got from a studio calico add on scrapbooking kit in December (I believe it is Maggie Holmes- Open Book).

The dark blue “hello” acrylic is from Color Cast Designs

The enamel dots are from the Recollections at Michaels.

Black sparkly arrow, aqua arrow paper clip and grey positive sign are from Freckled Fawn.

The May wood veneer is from Michaels and I used the 24 Karat mist from Studio Calico to color it.

All the little word stickers are from Studio Calico PL kits.

I use the Kelly Purkey Outline Alphabet stamp for all my lettering, and I use black stazon for the ink.

The striped cork “21” is from Stampin Up’s 2014 Christmas PL kit.

I hope you enjoyed this layout of mine. Happy Scrapping this week.
